About International Formats and Video Conversions…
NTSC (National Television System Committee) – A video standard used 525 lines / frame and 60 fields / s . ( Each video frame is split into two interlacing fields).
- Countries using this system include… Bahama Islands, Bolivia, Canada, Central America, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Peru, Surinam, Taiwan, Philippines, USA, Venezuela, etc.
PAL (Phase Alternating Line) – A video standard uses a wider channel bandwidth than NTSC which allows for better picture quality. PAL runs on 625 lines / frame and 50 fields / s .
- Countries using this system include… Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britian, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, etc.
SECAM (SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire) – A video system uses the same bandwidth as PAL but transmits the color information sequentially. SECAM runs on 625 lines / frame and 50 fields / s .
